On Thursday, 14^th September, South Wales Police and Crime Commissioner Alun Michael attended a Kaleidoscope event to mark the service’s 20^th year working with substance misuse in South Wales and Gwent.

He was joined at the event which took place in St Woolas Church, Newport, by Newport East MP Jessica Morden, Shadow Secretary of State Jo Stevens, and Kaleidoscope Chief Executive, Martin Blakebrough.

The sensible use of lifesaving Naloxone was promoted at the event which also featured a performance by Bristol Recovery Choir, Rising Voices.

The Commissioner has fully supported the use of Naloxone by South Wales Police officers since it was initially piloted in September, 2022. Since then, 34 lives have been saved by front line officers and hundreds of police officers and PCSOs have volunteered to carry the medicine.
